    Brook Park Swim Team

    Week of June 12th-16th

    10:00 AM – 11:00 AM – 11 & over practice

    11:00 AM – 12:00 PM – 10 & under practice

    1. Tuesday is our first meet and it is a home meet against Hampton. Swimmers are asked to arrive around 5:15=5:30 PM to check in with the coaches and get their events written on their hand. Home team warmups are at 5:30 PM. The meet starts at 6:30 PM.

    2. Please check the Swimtopia site (or app on your phone) to declare if your swimmers will be available for the meet. This needs to be done noon the day prior to the meet. Additionally, I opened all the meets up for the season except for the last week. For future meets, I will open the jobs up after the first meet and we review how staffing went for the meet.

In addition to the declaring your children for the meets next week, please volunteer to work the meet or the concession stand. It is expected that all families work three (3) meets or more this season. Please check the volunteer job site for when each job runs. All volunteers will receive a guest pass for the pool. If you are working the actual meet, like timers, etc then you will be called to a meeting at 6 PM.

A reminder that the baby pool WILL NOT be open for swim meets. Additionally, parents are asked to stay off the deck during the meet and let the coaches coach the swimmers. Families with new swimmers or those under 8 years of age are welcome to have the swimmers stay with them to support them. We want to make this fun and have each swimmer get through their event successfully.

And parking will be a challenge, please try to carpool.

    3. Thursday night is another HOME swim meet against Valley Brook (a North Hills team situated off Siebert Road). Swimmers are asked to arrive around 5:15-5:25 PM to check in with the coaches and get their events written on their hand. Home team warmups are at 5:30 PM. The meet starts at 6:30 PM.

    4. While it is terrific to be outside and not cooped up in the house, there may be days that are not fit for swimming. We are going to use the guide of 65 degrees for the hours of swim practice as a benchmark to cancel practice. If the temperature is going to rise during the practice, we will try to get the practice in. I wanted to let you know of what helped make the decision to cancel. It is always up the parent if they want to bring their swimmer on cool days.

    5. For last minute cancelations, a child becomes ill and cannot swim on a meet day, please text Marissa (412 313-3322) or Elizabeth (412 216-6013) to let them know.
