195-194
CONGRATULATIONS MANORAYS!
We are so proud of all of our swimmers- they all kicked some massive butt tonight at our meet against Shaler. Before I talk about some stand-out swimmers, just a few reminders:
1. Practice starts at 10:15 for Older Kids tomorrow & 11:15 for Younger Kids
2. Please RSVP for meets by 12 pm noon the day prior to the meet (i.e. Tuesday meet, RSVP on Monday)
3. If you or your child can not attend the meet, please let us know by noon on the day of the meet. If a child is sick (which happens and we understand) we have to adjust the lineup and it makes it easier to know as early as possible.
4. Please continue to volunteer - our meets do not run smoothly without our great volunteers
5. Results for this meet will be available on SwimTopia by Monday
Now for the fun part! As most of you know - we award 4 kids (2 in older, 2 in younger) Manoray of Meet. These kids stuck out by working hard and swimming crazy fast. When talking as a group, Coach Justin, Coach Marissa, and I had an INCREDIBLY hard time picking out 4 kids. We eventually decided on 4 kids, but we wanted to give some races special shout-outs. We will probably miss a few- and our Manorays of the Meets' races will probably not be mentioned.
Event 6 : Boys 10u Medley Relay A Relay : Eamon Duffy, Ben Bukowinski. Logan Prigg, and Hayden Gronsky - Teamwork and Resilence shined here, as all four boys started the meet strong and carried through the rest of the night.
Event 8 : Boys 8u Medley Relay : Garrett Docherty, Jayce Smith, Colin Bukowinski, and Luca Anticole - This medley killed it, they may not have won, but they came back and made it a close race.
Event 11 : Girls Breaststroke Crescendo Relays : Elsa Heffley, Ellie Smith, Kennedy Fisher, and Leah Laughlin (A Relay); Aubrey Cronin, Penelope Cottone, Arelyn Perkins, and Sawyer Gibson (B Relay); Scarlett Vecenie, Maya Anticole, Mia Licata, and Ella Bumbaco (C Relay)- All swimmers know great breastroke technique is hard to come by and these kids crushed it. They all had beautiful strokes and had hard, fast finishes.
Event 12 : Boys Breaststroke Crescendo A Relay : Colin Bukowinski, Ben Bukowinski, Seth Doyle, and Justin Morrison - This relay had an identical time to Shaler's relay and ultimately Shaler was given the points. They were quick and sharp breastroke that made all of us proud.
Event 13 : Girls Butterfly Crescendo Relay : Bridget Rink, Ellie Smith, Joss Rommes, and Elizabeth Vales (A Relay); Anna Kieley, Charlotte Cooper, Mia Licata, and Marissa Paulson (B Relay) - If you have ever talked to a swimmer, you know how hard butterfly is, and all eight girls killed it. The B Relay came back on the last leg to get 3rd and the A relay had stunning technique and blew away the competition.
Event 18 : Boys 9-10 Freestyle Relay : Logan Prigg, Nolan Kelly, Ben Bukowinski, and Hayden Gronsky - If anyone saw Event 18, two things stuck out - Nolan's goggles came off and he swam with no goggles the entire length and even ran into the lane rope. This did not stop him and he finished fast and led into event number 2, Ben Bukowinski. Ben shot off like a rocket and gave Hayden a generous lead to take it home.
Event 19 : Girls 11-12 Freestyle Relay : Carly Sullivan, Carys Heffley, Kennedy Fisher, and Hailey Paulson (A Relay); Emily Marunczak, Ava Gauntner, Arelyn Perkins, and Reese Rommes (B Relay) - If you know any of those kids listed above, you probably that two out of eight of them are 11/12. Tonight we had many swimmers swim up - the whole B Relay was made of 10 year old girls. They came and they crushed it in this event. Age is just a number!
Event 21 : Girls 13-17 Freestyle A Relay : Leah Laughlin, Katherine Vales, Izzie Trunzo, and Sophia Vales - Comeback, Comeback, Comeback. This relay was shaky, they went up against a great Shaler team and pulled out the win. Sophia had a great finish to the end going a 32.49 (very speedy).
All individual events did amazing and came hard. Brook Park won 10/14 individual events and that is pretty amazing.
Event 38 : Mixed 9-10 Relay : Ellie Smith, Hayden Gronsky, Brooke Dietrich, and Eamon Duffy - These four kids did not swim, Speedy Gonzales did. They had strong startts, finishes, strokes, it was all amazing. I am perplexed on how we got so lucky to have these four on our team.
Event 40 : Mixed 13-14 Relay : Katherine Vales, Matthew Woods, Sophia Vales, and Callan Bunger - Speechless. Utterly Speechless. Just before this event began, we were informed that we were down by 6 points. That meant that we had to win 40 and 41 to tie. These kids had all three coaches run up to them and say you have to win. That is something that is incredibly hard to hear and these kids looked at us and said, “We got this” and went out and won their race. They went a 2:14.47 which beat Shaler by 10 seconds. They did amazing and we would not have won without them.
Event 41 : Mixed 15-17 Relays : Izzie Trunzo, Justin Morrison, Elizabeth Vales, Camden Wright (A Relay); Kailyn Marunczak, Brent Paulson, Sawyer Gibson, Adam Rodgers (B Relay) - Two Words. Camden. Wright. Camden won the meet for us. The whole six point dilemma mentioned above - it was shortened to 3. Before the race, it was announced that the winner of the race would win the meet, and all eight swimmers delivered. The A Relay was like lightning out there - going a 1:59.13 (Breaking Two Minutes) and beating Shaler who went a 1:59.54. The B Relay brought it home though. Winning the event tied it, but the B Relay placing 3rd won the meet. This just shows that every single race matters.
195 to 194 was the final score.

Awesome Volunteers :
Kathy Prigg did an amazing job lining up swimmers and actually allowed our coaches to actually coach which we majorly appreciate. Audrey Morrison majorly stepped up to place judge and serve as team cheerleader!
Throughout this meet, our team persevered and came through when we needed to. Countless goggles fell off (shoutout to Nolan Kelly for killing it with no goggles and running into the lane rope simultaneously), kids got scared and wanted to drop events, and we (as coaches) ran around like chickens without a head (or maybe that was just Coach Elizabeth). Tonight we proved that we are a team and every single race matters, A Relay or C Relay. We are so proud of all of our swimmers and cannot wait for this Tuesday's Meet
Thank you all for being such amazing kids and working incredibly hard. We couldn't have done this without every single swimmer.
Coach Elizabeth, Coach Marissa, and Coach Justin
